Darjeeling is a town in India's West Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills. It was once a summer resort for the British Raj elite, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or “Toy Train,” completed in 1881. This hill station offers is known for the distinctive varieties of tea plantations and with the breathtaking view of the great Kanchenjunga mountains which are one of the world’s highest peaks. Darjeeling is also known as the 'Queen of the Himalayas'. The lush green slopes dotted with women plucking tea leaves is a sight as mesmerizing as no other. There are over 86 tea estates in Darjeeling that are responsible for producing the worldwide famous 'Darjeeling Tea'. You must get the taste of the locally brewed chai at the tea estate, or get down amidst the plantations to pluck a few tea leaves yourself, you are free to take your pick! In this Vlog, I have shown the must-visit places and my favorite food places to eat in Darjeeling. I generally recommend 3 days to stay in Darjeeling to explore the city and also taste local-grown tea. Please do share your comments if I missed any places and your suggestions so that I can cover them in my next vlog.
